FAQ Underfloor Heating Systems
Everything you should know before buying.
That depends on the construction project. For new buildings with wet screed, the tacker system is the most cost-effective. For renovations with low floor height, we recommend the thin-layer system. For wooden beam ceilings, the dry construction system is the only sensible choice.
Underfloor heating is already worthwhile from approx. 10–15 m². Our complete sets start from 10 m². For living spaces, hot water underfloor heating is almost always the better choice compared to electric solutions.
Staple system & hook-and-loop system: from 65 mm. Thin-layer system: from 18 mm. Drywall system: from 45 mm. When planning, always account for the finished flooring (tiles, parquet, etc.).
Yes – all MC Therm systems are fully heat pump compatible. Underfloor heating systems operate with low flow temperatures (30–45 °C), which maximises the heat pump's coefficient of performance (COP).
The tacker system is also suitable for experienced DIY enthusiasts. Hook-and-loop and thin-layer systems require more experience. Hydraulic balancing and heating circuit connection should always be carried out by a specialist company.
Material costs depending on the system: Tacker from €8/m², Velcro from €18/m², Thin-layer from €25/m², Drywall from €35/m². Our complete sets include all components ex works – with no extra charge for individual parts.
