FAQ Underfloor Heating
A warm water underfloor heating system (UFH) is a radiant heating system in which warm water circulates through pipes under the floor, radiating heat evenly from the floor into the room. It operates with low flow temperatures (25–45 °C) and is significantly more efficient than conventional radiators – especially in combination with heat pumps.
Material costs vary depending on the system: Tacker system from 8 €/m², hook-and-loop system from 14 €/m², thin-layer system from 15 €/m², dry construction system from 31 €/m². Our complete sets include all components – tacker plate, heating pipe, edge insulation strip – directly from the manufacturer ex works.
This depends on the construction project: New build with wet screed → Tacker system (most affordable option). Renovation with low build-up height → Thin-layer system NerthusFlow (from 18 mm). Timber beam ceiling or old building → Drywall system (no wet screed). Commercial or complex layouts → Velcro system. Our system finder helps with the selection.
Yes – underfloor heating and a heat pump are the ideal combination. UFH works with flow temperatures of 30–45 °C, which maximises the heat pump's COP and significantly reduces heating costs. All MC Therm systems are fully heat pump compatible and designed for low-temperature operation.
The tacker system and hook-and-loop system are generally suitable for DIY. The pipes can be laid by the customer. However, the hydraulic balancing and connection to the heating circuit distributor should be carried out by a specialist company. The thin-layer and dry construction systems require a little more experience.
