PE-Xa: maximum dimensional stability, very durable, ideal for complex layouts. PE-RT: more affordable alternative, easy to process, suitable for standard wet screed. Multi-layer composite (Alu-Verbund): absolutely dimensionally stable after bending, minimal thermal expansion.
PE-Xa is cross-linked under pressure, making it very dimensionally stable and durable – but also a little more expensive. PE-RT is the more cost-effective option with good flexibility. Both have an EVOH oxygen diffusion barrier for corrosion protection.
For underfloor heating, Ø 16 mm and Ø 17 mm are most commonly used. Ø 16 mm is the standard, Ø 14 mm for very low installation heights (thin-layer systems). Larger diameters (20 mm) allow for longer heating circuits and fewer manifold connections.
For a pipe spacing of 15 cm, you need approx. 6.7 m of pipe per m², for 20 cm approx. 5 m/m² and for 10 cm approx. 10 m/m². Our configurator calculates the exact quantity automatically.
Yes - all MC Therm heating pipes are compatible with all installation systems: tacker system, hook-and-loop system, thin-layer (NerthusFlow) and drywall system. Recommendation: Match pipe diameter and wall thickness to the respective system.
