What does PE-RT mean?

PE-RT stands for Polyethylene of Raised Temperature resistance. Unlike PE-Xa, it is not cross-linked but achieves temperature resistance through its special molecular structure. It is slightly less flexible than PE-Xa but is more affordable and well-suited for standard underfloor heating systems up to 70 °C.

Which pipe diameter should I choose?

12 mm: for very small rooms or thin-layer systems. 14 mm: Standard for underfloor heating up to approx. 80 m² per circuit. 16 mm: for larger areas, lower pressure losses, recommended for heat pumps. Our advisory team will assist with hydraulic design.

Can PE-RT EVOH be combined with heat pumps?

Yes, PE-RT EVOH is heat pump compatible. Since heat pumps operate at low temperatures (35-55 °C), the flow temperature is well below the continuous operating limit of 70 °C. The EVOH barrier protects sensitive heat pump components from oxygen corrosion.

How does PE-RT EVOH differ from PE-Xa EVOH?

Both have an EVOH barrier. PE-Xa is more flexible, has higher temperature resistance (95 °C vs. 70 °C), and a longer lifespan under extreme conditions. PE-RT is cheaper and perfectly adequate for standard underfloor heating systems up to 70 °C.
