The EcoGuard Biotex Decoupling Matis a reinforced decoupling membrane made of recycled polyester for the secure installation of ceramic, porcelain stoneware, natural stone, and large format tiles. It absorbs shear stresses on critical substrates and ensures permanently stable adhesion with minimal installation height. Thanks to its high shear strength and chemical resistance, it is ideal for demanding renovation and new construction projects indoors.

When do I need an uncoupling membrane?

An uncoupling membrane is required when: the substrate has cracks or is prone to cracking, large-format tiles are being laid, different materials are present in the substrate (screed on wood), or increased loads are to be expected.

What exactly does "decoupling" mean?

Decoupling separates the mechanical connection between the substrate and the tile covering. If the substrate moves (cracks, thermal expansion), this movement is absorbed by the membrane without the tile covering cracking or detaching.

Is EcoGuard Biotex suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, the EcoGuard Biotex is compatible with underfloor heating systems. The thin membrane (0.65 mm) does not significantly affect heat transfer. For wet screed systems, it should be laid on the cured screed.

How is the EcoGuard Biotex installed?

The membrane is embedded into the prepared substrate using a suitable tile adhesive. Joints between the sheets must be properly overlapped. Then, the tiles are bonded directly onto the membrane. Application according to Kerakoll system recommendations.
